Being comfortable has been the name of the game lately.  It’s too hot, and uncharacteristically muggy for Colorado, to wear many layers.  I wore this out for an easy, evening bike ride on Sunday.  Before walking out the door I got a little scissor happy again and cut that big diamond in the back of my t-shirt.  I had seen a girl in Austin who’s over sized t-shirt had a triangle cut in the back, and I really liked the simple way it opened the back …so this inspired by that random girl in Austin.  I love being inspired by street style, and Austin was full of it.  I also purchased these sandals on my recent trip to Texas, and I must say, after searching for the perfect, versatile, nude, flat sandal for quite some time, I am very happy with my purchase.  They have become a summer staple for me.

Summer Evening Stroll

{gifted vintage dress, Seychelles shoes, thrifted earrings, I purchased the purse in Seattle :: brand unknown, Target sunglasses}

Summer evenings are beautiful in Colorado.  After a hot day, it is so pleasant to go for evening walks as the sun is setting and the day is cooling off.  Wrapping up a busy day, Bill and I took a stroll through Colorado State University’s Center of the Arts’ grounds, and the University’s Annual Flower Trails.   It was relaxing, quiet, and the perfect place to snap a few photos and soak in the last rays of the day.  Later that evening I traded my dress and heels for comfy pajamas and flip-flops, and we packed up for an evening at the Drive-In with a picnic dinner.  It’s one of my favorite ways to spend a summer evening.

A Musical Evening

I finally got to see Les Miserables preformed live, at the Denver Performing Arts Center on Friday night.   As a kid I was slightly obsessed with musicals, and when I got to high school I was very fortunate to be involved in an excellent drama and choir department, which put on fantastic musicals every year.  I also have seen many wonderful shows as a result of my love for, and my involvement in, theatre.   But, despite all my exposure to fantastic theater, I never got an opportunity to see one of my favorite musicals preformed, until Friday.  As the curtains lifted and the first notes were sung, I got goosebumps that stuck with me most of the show.  I felt thrilled by watching live theatre again (sad to say I don’t get to go as often as I’d like any more) and to be watching a show I know so well musically and have been singing along with for so long (even if it’s mostly in the shower now) was amazing.  It was a very special night indeed, and I’ve been humming Les Mis tunes ever since.
