Heart Filled Holiday

{i love you}

I spent my Valentine’s Day catching up on all the little holiday crafts I had on my to do list but ran out of time to finish.  Better late the never!  I made quick little valentine’s and chocolate cupcakes with homemade paper flags.  Everything was super easy and turned out so cute, and seemed to put a smile on everyone’s face.

Little Loves

{16 months ago with my favorite study buddies}

I take pictures of my pets more than anything else.  I can’t help it, it seems everytime I turn around they are doing something else so adorable, or hilarious, that the camera has to come out.   Rocky laying uspside down on the couch never gets old and Scout drinking from her fountain (a quirky cat charateristic of her’s…she only drinks from running water) is always a hoot.  Our pets provide us with daily giggles and smiles by giving us endless amounts of affection, warm snuggles, and unconditional love.  And, as you other pet owners know, there is no better way to be greeted after a long day, then then by warm wet noses and happy tails.  I have been spoiled by two amazing furry little friends who have now been with us for over six years, through all the ups and downs, always providing us with an example of simple happiness and joy when life easlily gets complicated and messy.  Bill and I both talk to them as if one day we expect them to look up at us and answer the many questions or comments we direct towards them.   Despite their inability to answer verbally I never feel like what I’ve said goes unacknowledged, and sometimes all you need is a kitty kiss or one of Rocky’s long deep sighs to know everything is going to be okay.   That being said I would like to remind everyone to give all their four-legged friends lots of love for Valentine’s Day tomorrow and everyday after.  Use tomorrow as a reminder that love goes beyond what is said in Hallmark cards, and that love can be found in our lives in places we sometimes forget to look, like in the affectionate gaze of a dog or in a warm ball of fur curled up with the utmost trust in your lap.

Everyday Journeys

Yesterday I said bon voyage to a friend of mine bound for a much warmer climate.  While the rest of us Coloradoans bundle up and prepare for more snow, she will be trading in her winter coat for bikinis and sun dresses.   I would be lying if I said I wasn’t completely jealous of the three months she set aside to spend exploring Costa Rica, a country I have always dreamed of, and planned on visiting for an extended amount of time.  However, life has made other plans for me currently, most of which I cannot complain about, so Costa Rica will have to wait.  I am so happy for my friend and I can’t wait to hear all the exciting stories she brings back with her.  She is a warm and open person, with a positive outlook towards adventure so I know beautiful things await her, unknowing as they maybe.    Traveling inspires people to grow and transform, as does life.  While I may dream of beaches, rainforest, and warm water, I remind myself that my daily journey is here, for now, everyday as I travel through life.  Even if that means I’m stuck wearing my warmest, and my favorite winter pea coat.

Never a Dull Moment

It’s been a long two weeks, filled by both amazing nights out (concert, limo ride, and casinos), and a very busy work week, keeping a balance between fun and obligations.   Adding to the excitement we had a very close friend of ours visiting us this past week and when we get together with old friends there is rarely a dull moment.

Colorado has offered us some really beautiful days for this time of year, so we got out and took full advantage of those too, golfing and eating outside one day, followed by snowman building the next. On the Front Range if you wait to go out and play, whether in the sun or snow, you’ll miss it, so often the weather dictates a day’s agenda.

This morning I am thankful for the quite and calm after being constantly on the go since I lasted posted.  As I look back on the past week I can’t help but feel how quickly time can pass ( I feel like just yesterday was my birthday, and now Valentine’s Day is just around the corner!) but how thankful I am to spend so much of that time with the people I love, doing things I love.
